Our helpful customers have informed us that during recent inspections they have been asked questions regarding their procedures for transporting children in their car. Many childminders have been advised that their current procedures are not robust enough and require more detail. Inspectors are requesting that childminders provide parents with information regarding the make and model of their car alongside evidence of road worthiness (MOT) and business use insurance. Parents should also be given details of the car seat intended for use by their child and made aware of current car seat legislation.
MindingKids has therefore added a Transport Policy to our Policies & Procedures Pack. The Transport Policy also includes an additional information sheet to give to parents titled ‘My Car Seats and the Law’ which outlines current car seat guidelines and can be edited to include details of the car seats you use for your childminding service.
We have also made some small changes to our Permission To Be Transported In A Car consent form, included in the Personal Care Plans within the Logbooks & Forms Pack.
