Use these colourful rainbow charts to assist with monitoring and supporting the learning and development of early years children in your care. Based on Development Matters outcome statements, the EYFS Development Rainbows will help you to follow the learning and development requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage considering the various milestones and achievements that evident each child’s overall wellbeing and development.

Excellent for sharing with parents and children who will be proud to see their achievements and progression.

SUPPLIED AS PDF FORMS, THIS RESOURCE CAN BE COMPLETED AND SHARED DIGITALLY USING A COMPUTER, TABLET OR SMART PHONE OR PRINTED OUT AND COMPLETED BY HAND.

Full Rainbows (all learning areas) AND Prime / Specific learning area rainbows are included for the following age groups; Baby (0 to 18 months), Toddler (18 months to 3 years). Pre-school (3 and 4 years) and Reception level.

IMPORTANT: The Rainbows can be used as a guide to the typical milestones displayed within each age group. The outcomes are listed to help remind you and parents of the types of development milestones to be looking for within each learning area and to assist in making best-fit judgements about whether a child is showing typical development for their age, may be at risk of delay or is ahead for their age. Children should not be expected to meet every single outcome.

💻To complete the rainbows digitally, click in the designated fields to enter children’s names and dates of birth and add a review date (or age in months) if desired. You can also click above each outcome statement that you believe to be true for each child to mark it as observed or achieved with a star.

✍🏻Alternatively, you can choose to print out the rainbows and complete by hand. (See the User Guide provided for printing guidance.) Use a highlighter to mark off experiences or apply star stickers (not included) to create a similar effect.

The Development Rainbows are provided as PDF Forms and can be viewed with any PDF reader. You can choose to print them out and complete by hand or use your computer / tablet to enter information before printing, saving or sharing digitally with parents. For a paperless solution, you can save the files to development folders for each child on your computer.
