NEW Maternity Policies & Risk Assessment!

Has one of your minded children’s parents recently announced that they are expecting again or do you work with an assistant who is pregnant? It is vital that you consider any additional risks for pregnant woman who visit or work in your setting.

After congratulating them on their wonderful news, you will also need to think about how you can best support the family or staff member throughout their pregnancy and what the arrival of a new baby could mean for your business.

Will an existing minded child’s family cease to require your services whilst the mother is on maternity leave or, when she returns to work, will an additional childcare place be required?

How can you best support a pregnant assistant as their role becomes more physically demanding? How will you manage if they are absent through pregnancy related illness or whilst they attend ante-natal care? How will you explain their rights regarding maternity leave?

By request from our very helpful members and customers, we have now put together the following templates:

  • Maternity Policy – For minded children’s parents, explaining how you will support them and their child throughout the pregnancy, help to prepare their child for the arrival of the new baby and work with them to establish new childcare arrangements where required.
  • Staff Maternity Policy – To inform pregnant staff members or assistants of when and how they should provide notification about their pregnancy and their rights regarding maternity leave. The policy also outlines how you will assist them throughout their pregnancy, what arrangements will be put in place during their absence and and how you will support them in their return to work following leave.
  • Pregnant Staff Member Risk Assessment – To help identify and minimise any additional risks to pregnant staff members.

All of these new templates are provided as Word Documents and can be edited as required to suit your own setting and business circumstances.
